Curriculum Vitae

Vassilis G. Kaburlasos received the Diploma degree from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, in 1986, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Nevada, Reno, USA, in 1989 and 1992, respectively, all in electrical engineering.

Dr. Kaburlasos has been participant, investigator or leader in more than 20 research projects, funded both publicly and privately, in the USA and in the European Union. He has been a member of the technical/advisory committee or an invited speaker in many international conferences and a reviewer of a number of indexed (WoS) journals. He has (co)authored more than 120 scientific research articles in indexed journals, refereed conferences and books. In particular, Dr. Kaburlasos is the author of a research monograph book entitled Towards a Unified Modeling and Knowledge-Representation Based on Lattice Theory (Heidelberg, Germany: Springer, series: Studies in Computational Intelligence 27, 2006), co-editor of two books and the Guest Editor of a journal Special Issue on: Information Engineering Applications Based on Lattices (Information Sciences, vol. 181, iss. 10, 2011). Currently, there are more than 800 third party citations to his published articles corresponding to an h-index of 15. His statement of purpose focuses on intelligence modeling and human-machines interaction applications.

Presently, Dr. Kaburlasos serves as a full Professor with the Department of Computer and Informatics Engineering as well as director of the Human-Machines Interaction (HMI) laboratory at the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Institute of Technology, Greece. Prof. Kaburlasos also serves as an elected member of the Institute's Council. In his capacity he held a number of academic/administrative positions. He is a member of several professional, scientific and honor societies around the world including the IEEE, EUCog, Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu and the Technical Chamber of Greece.
